Here is one example of the postural distortion that can occur in the body with long-standing misalignment. And not just the bones are involved. The muscles attached to your bones will also develop patterns of distortion: usually contracted on one side and stretched on the other. Like all bad habits, these patterns in the body take time and effort to correct. We have to re-program ourselves into happier, easier, more balanced posture! Simple exercises, done regularly, can do a tremendous amount to support the corrective effect of chiropractic adjustments. They will help you maintain proper alignment, and live a healthier, more empowered life. Supportive Care Your posture may need support in number of ways. One of the most important is your base of support: your feet. If the way your feet meet the ground is unbalanced, it causes stress to your knees and un-levels your pelvis. Since the pelvis is the base of support for your spine, lots of problems can result. Unfortuntely, many of these problems are never traced to their true source - or an inadequate orthotic support is used. This can introduce a whole new level of problem! We use a range of tests to determine what kind of support you may need. And we only use orthotics that are customized to your individual feet - and that support the foot in motion.
